A new replenishment of Navigation Maritime Bulgare Fleet

sredna-goraNavigation Maritime Bulgare is now operating 28 modern bulk carriers and their number shall increase to 32 by the end of the year.

The latest replenishment is the bulk carrier Sredna gora (SREDNA GORA – IMO 9486570). The ship was built in 2010 in the HUATAI HEAVY INDUSTRY shipbuilding yard – NANTONG, China under the name GLORY MODEST, and from October the same year it was given the name CYAN PHOENIX. The bulker was managed up till now by the large Chinese shipping company GLOBAL MARINE SHIPMANAGEMENT – QINGDAO.

Sredna Gora has a length of 189,99 m, width 28,5 m (Summer DWT: 37,302 tons).  It has five holds with a capacity to take grain cargo of 48.957.26 cubic meters. It has four deck cranes with cargo capacity of 30 tons each. Her main engine is DU-WARTSILA United Sulzer 6RTA48TB with a power of 7368 kw at 118 r.pm. It attains a speed of 14,7 knots. The whole outfit of the bulk carrier complies with the latest requirements for the environment protection. Practically the newly acquired Sredna gora is a (twin) sister ship of the motor ships Rodina and Bulgaria which are part of the Navibulgar fleet as from 2009 and 2010 respectively.

The first Captain of the Sredna gora is Nikolay Stanev, master foreign going and the first Chief engineer – Mihail Tomov.

This is not the first vessel within the fleet having this name, the previous one was ordered by Navibulgar to Japanese shipyard Nippon Kokan, Shimizu under hull 219 Number, she was launched July 1964 and delivered on 29 Sep 1964 with IMO 6423682 as the first from the series of 9600 coal carriers. On her maiden Voyage  she was under the command of Captain Vassil Atanassov and Chief engineer Georgi Apostolov. The first cargo on boards was Rubber from Singapore and Sumatra  and cotton from  Latakia, the first visit to Port of Varna was on 1.12.1964 the vessel was sold in 15.02.2002  and beached in Alang for scrap on 14.01.2003. During the next few years following the delivery of m/v Sredna Gora consequently in the Shipyards of Shimizu and Hakodate were built and delivered the rest of the series coal carrier with LOA 126.0 m, W 17.60, max draught 7.60, cap 9602 DWT, driven by 3500 BHP B&W engine and max speed of 13 kn. Stara planina, Lulin, Pirin, Strandja, Hemus, Ossogovo, Ograjden, Plana and Belasitsa.
